Urban Hiking!

This weekend Thad took me to Poughkeepsie and we did some urban hiking while we were there. We hiked through the city looking for the "Walkway over the Hudson." We hiked through neighborhoods until we found the stairs which led to the bridge. The bridge is 1.2 miles long, we wanted to hike the entire thing but it was nearly closing time so we only got about a third of the way out before the city officials turned us around. It was so much fun to hike through the city! So today, do some urban hiking and Live An Inspired Life!

Renew your vows!

Yesterday we attended the wedding of friends who renewed their vows. They softly spoke their eloquent vows to one another in front of friends and family in a beautiful clearing on their property. The leaves of Autumn were kind enough to turn bright colors for the most beautiful back drop to such a spiritual day. Today, I recommend to everyone that you renew your vows to the person you love. Whether it be a big shin dig with many witnesses or a whisper into your lovers ear, either way, renew your love and Live An Inspired Life!
Congratulations Dave & Becca... aka: DaVecca!

Take the blame....

This quote by Byron Katie inspired me:

“Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change your experience; taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them”

Stop making excuses and blaming others, take the blame, take control, make a change, step up, raise your standards and Live An Inspired Life!

Homeschool those kids......

The schools will not teach your children manners, etiquette, morals, entrepreneurship, religion, sociology and many other things that are vitally important to life. Kids need to be schooled at home in these subjects! It is up to us parents to provide the knowledge that kids will need to make it in the "real world." They can learn academics at school, but do not let the school kids teach them their manners or how to be appropriate in public. I can assure you what they learn from the other kids will most likely not serve them well in life.
In my home, we use a dry erase board in the kitchen and each day a new topic or quote or something to start the at home lesson. We also have a homework club after school, we all sit around the table together and do homework. The teens help the younger kids and I am there cooking dinner so I can help and teach them about our daily at home lesson. It is great... the kids usually find ways to joke about the daily lesson and we all laugh about it and it makes the learning fun!
So today when the kids get home from regular school, sit at the table and teach them some real life skills that will be so valuable to them and teach them to Live An Inspired Life!

Steaming hot fresh bread!

Yummm! There is nothing like coming home to a house that smells like fresh bread! Today, dust off the bread machine, or make a loaf by hand and make the house smell wonderful for the kids or spouse coming home! Fresh hot bread makes a warm yummy after school snack or it's just great to go with tonight's dinner. So today, bake a fresh loaf of bread and Live An Inspired Life!

My favorite basic bread recipe:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
Add ingredients to bread machine in order, wet first then dry and yeast last. I bake on a light setting, 1.5lb loaf. Enjoy!

Romance is alive and well....

Be romantic! Last night Thad took me to our spot, the grassy meadow where we first kissed, it began to rain and we slow danced together. We exchanged words of adoration and recalled our first kiss and in that moment I thought about how lucky I was to be one with my soul mate. Thad and I spent the entire evening complimenting one another and lavishing each other with words of appreciation and love. Romance is alive and well my friends, you just have to participate in it! So today, rekindle the romance! Buy her flowers, slip a note in his bag, slow dance in the rain, make out in the woods, proclaim your undying love for one another and Live An Inspired Life!

Step Up!!!

Get a mentor! One of the best ways to get what you want is to be around people who have already have it! Step up your game with a mentor or coach. If you are trying to become a better soccer player, find out who the best soccer player is in your local area and ask them to mentor you! Being in proximity with people who are at a higher lever than you can raise you up and help you get to where you want to be. Additionally, if you are at the top, think about mentoring someone and helping them get what they want. Zig Zigler says if you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want. I truly believe that too! So today, get a mentor or be a mentor and Live An Inspired Life!

Let go...

You can't control a hurricane and you would never try. You don't get mad at a hurricane, it would be useless. So why do we try to control or get mad at smaller things? We cannot control other people and getting mad is counter productive. If you want something to change, you have to change yourself or your response to the situation. Let go of things that are out of your control, let go of those who don't want to be held on to, let go of the past, let go of emotions that do not have a positive impact on you or others. Let go and Live An Inspired Life!

Don't make excuses!

What do you want to do? Where do you want to go? Who do you want to be? STOP making excuses and do it, be it or get it! Everyone has adversity to overcome, find a way, get it done and Live An Inspired Life!

Evolve your mind!

Everyone has something personal that they can work on.... confidence, communication skills, assertiveness or even being extremely shy. Evolve your mind by working on personal development and growth. Surround yourself by people who have what you want, read self help books, learn about psychology. Do whatever it takes to evolve mentally and grow beyond your circumstances. Maybe even hire a coach! Coaches are super popular these days and can really help you get past life's hurdles that seem to slow you down! Squeaky Shoes!

It is raining here in Upstate NY and when I walked the kids into school today, our wet shoes squeaked on the floor. So I decided to twist my feet back and forth to make a really loud squeaky noise and of course the kids followed my example! Even Ethan twisted his legs the best he could from his walker while laughing and smiling huge! Of course when a teacher rounded the corner to see who was making all the racket, I just looked at the kids and sarcastically said "Ethan and Carrie, stop squeaking your shoes!" To which we all laughed out loud and just continued with our fun. So today, be silly, squeak your shoes if you can and Live An Inspired Life!

Hold your tongue...

There is just no room for gossip in An Inspired Life! Resist the urge to talk about other people, a life of integrity means holding our tongue sometimes. Speak well of people who are not there or don't speak of them at all if you have nothing nice to say. Lift people up, find the good, inspire someone, talk about the positive and Live An Inspired Life!

Give in secret!

All major religions teach that giving is a virtuous act and that we should give without expecting recognition or reward. Donate, volunteer or drop off some goods to a homeless family and do not tell anyone that you did it. Let it be your little secret with the Universe. When you help out and announce it for all the world to see, or try and hold others accountable to see what they have done, you are merely serving your ego. Give in secret with a pure heart dedicated to love and compassion and Live An Inspired Life!

Matt. 6:1-4 “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."

Feng Shui your office!

Having an office space set up and organized properly is vital to your professional success! Feng Shui is the Chinese art of furniture placement to improve ones positive "qi" and in an office, it could improve productivity and income! A few office Feng Shui for wealth tips are:
  1. Place a picture of a lake, waterfall or any other water scene on one of the walls in your wealth corner. Water represents energy flow.
  2. Use an aquarium or small fountain if you prefer.
  3. Place a green, smooth-leafed plant (e.g., a jade plant) on a shelf in this corner. You can substitute an artificial plant if you tend to neglect live ones. The allusion to growing wealth is obvious.
  4. Place other symbols of wealth in the corner. They can include:
    • red eggs symbolizing wealth creation
    • a red envelope containing several coins
    • three Chinese coins tied with a red ribbon
    • a pearl or anything spherical (to curb unbridled ambition)
    • a wheel or bell representing power
    • a symbol or picture of red fish symbolizing wealth
    • a lotus flower symbolizing great achievements from humble beginnings
    • In addition, you can place a decorative jar of water near the entrance to your office.
  5. Make sure all items in your feng shui wealth areas pertain to wealth. In term of office feng shui, they might include a bookshelf with all your business or wealth creation books, your business computer, your diplomas and business awards.
These are just a few tips but there are tons online that can help you create an amazing, wealth creating space! So today, feng shui your office and Live An Inspired Life!

Create your vision board!

Helen Keller said it is a terrible thing to see but have no vision. I could not agree more! Today, create a vision board! A vision board is literally a board of things that you desire, things you envision for yourself, things you would love to have or do. My vision board has a hot pink convertible mustang on it and I know without a doubt that the car is mine and the Universe will deliver it to me. Have FUN, the sky is the limit! Create your vision board today, hang it in a prominent place so you will see it all the time and Live An Inspired Life!

Help a neighbor!

We have some major flooding going on here in Upstate NY right now. Luckily we have not had any problems in our home but plenty of people around us are experiencing flooded basements, power outages and some have had to evacuate. In times like these... help a neighbor! They may need help pumping out water, or a ride somewhere, or even just someone to listen to them because they were scared. PS... Kudos to my amazing loving husband for helping a person in the next town over to get to work this morning! I married the most compassionate man in the world and I feel blessed!

That's right... Laugh Out Loud!! There are times when you might want to laugh but suppress it... why? Laugh right out loud! Laughter is the best medicine and it is also contagious! Have you ever started laughing just because someone else was? I laugh out loud all the time and it often turns into hysterical belly laughing. My husband gets the biggest kick out of it when I laugh uncontrollably. So don't suppress the fun, laugh out loud and Live An Inspired Life!

Take your vitamins!

Most of us do not get adequate vitamins and minerals each day with the food that we eat. The funny thing about the world in which we live is that obesity is so prevalent yet most of the people who are overweight are under nourished because they are not eating the right types of foods to sustain life. Every day, besides eating healthy, relaxing, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep and exercise you should take a vitamin supplement. I ONLY use Shaklee products, I firmly believe in them and they are the highest quality that you can buy.
So today (and everyday)... take your vitamins and Live An Inspired Life!

Get out of bed lazy butt!!!

WAKE UP!!!!! Today, or rather tomorrow, wake up early!!! So many amazing reasons to rise early, not the least of which is to see the beautiful sunrise! Waking early gives you plenty of time to work out and eat a healthy breakfast. It can also present opportunities that others may miss because they are sleeping. There is also the added benefit for us parents of having peace and quiet in the morning before the kids wake up. It is an ancient Vedic belief that the hours between 4-6am are the "Time of God" which is the best time to pray, meditate or just contemplate. So tomorrow plan to wake up early.... workout, pray or just get a jump on the day and Live An Inspired Life!

Don't make excuses!

Lately I have been thinking about people who make excuses. I recently encountered someone who blames his parents relationship when he was growing up for the bad choices he is making today. How unfortunate it is to be stuck making choices based on someone else's actions from years past. Don't make excuses for yourself. Stand up, take responsibility and action and go out and be amazing! There is no reason for anyone to ever be held back by limiting beliefs, poor excuses or fear. Many people have TONS of challenges in life but still rise above and conquer and achieve everything they dream of! Set a new standard for yourself and Live An Inspired Life!

Married 50 years!!!

Today while I was waiting for my car to be serviced at the dealership, I met the nicest couple,
Winton & Tina Williams, they have been married for 50 years! We sat and chatted for a while, I took the opportunity to ask them how they stayed together so long and so happy. They both agreed that "communication" was the key to everything! They shared stories about their kids and their life together, their vacations and the fun times they have shared. They told me that they do everything together except for Bingo, Tina plays Bingo alone while Winton gets together with the guys. It was so lovely to speak to them and to witness the longevity of love and the dedication to one another. So today, celebrate a loving couple that has stood the test of time, maybe grandparents or parents or just join me in honoring Winton and Tina who clearly Live An Inspired Life!

Wear something SEXY!

Today I ordered my new swimsuit from Victoria's Secret! I can't wait until it arrives. I normally wear the very conservative one piece bathing suit, but as part of my inspired life I decided to get something way more sexy! As a mom of 6, I always make sure to remember to not only take care of ME, but to also celebrate that I am a women and a wife too, not just a mom. Mom's need to feel sexy and sensual and pretty! Judge not, lest ye be judged....

In this world, there are many people who judge. They judge who you are, what you wear, who you love, who you don't love and guess what? Their opinion is NONE of your business! Do not make decisions for your life based on another persons judgements. It dis-empowers you and robs you of the opportunity to be a leader. Stand tall, make your own decisions and Live An Inspired Life!

Fear doesn't control me!!!

Don't let fear control you! We are all afraid of things but that shouldn't stop us from living and loving each moment of life! I am not a huge fan of flying, I used to be terrified to fly but I have worked myself up to "tolerance" of flying. Why would I ever let a fear of flying hold me back from going places and visiting people? So here I sit in the airport, returning from a trip to TX with my husband. We had a wonderful time and it would have never happened if I let fear get the best of me. (The picture above is us at the Alamo!) We all have fears, it's what we do with them that matters. Do not let fear control you, acknowledge it and kick it's ass! Do what you are afraid of, dispel the fear or at least control it and Live An Inspired Life!
